Dr. T. Prasad Alias Dr.Mandi in ConnectONE
With a mission to promote novel concepts in the business sector, ConnectONE organized an interactive session with Dr.T. Prasad, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior in Institute of Industrial Engineering on 23rd December 2010 for Mandi (Marketing and Innovation), the innovative pedagogy for effective learning to sell a product and to deal with customers.
While addressing the TBIs, Dr. T. Prasad said, "Working in a team involves a lot of cooperation and coordination. Teamwork is orchestrating the activities among the team members so that the task gets done in symphony"
He also pointed out that in any organization, team work has a vital role. "The team is formed for the requirements of the organization. To achieve success as a team, one has to have a fair amount of practice and experience in the relevant area.""
Mandi, the new sensation, is the brainchild of Dr. T. Prasad alias Dr. Mandi (NITIE).In Mandi pedagogy, MBA students are assigned to engage in street selling of educational aids merchandise for a day and the experience is integrated with regular academic learning processes. Mandi field experience is utilized to impart MBA curriculum in NITIE. Mandi merchandise is supplied by Mumbai based NGO – Navnirmiti.
About the speaker: Dr.Mandi
Dr.T.Prasad was educated in Commerce and Management at the Osmania University, Hyderabad, completing his Ph.D in 1996. Since that time he has worked at the Department of Commerce Osmania University.
During this period, he has been seconded as a von Humbold fellow to the Technical University in Berlin (1989-91) and the Foundation BHP Chair of Management in the BHP Institute for Steel Processing and Products (1996-2002).He was visiting faculty at XLRI Jamshedpur, Zensar Business School etc.
His professional interests have been varied, ranging from Organizational Culture – Educational pedagogies to action learning in education. He has written journal articles in the area of workplace redesign, change, innovation and organizational politics, and presented research papers in several international seminars.His contributions for innovations in management teaching are Mandi, NITIE Dabbawallas, Hamara Dhandha, Shanthi Mandi etc.,
